As we all mentally prepare for yet another week. It’s the perfect timing to look back at on of the highlights on the MDFS Festival summer tour; the German MELT! Festival. Held in the post DDR East German city Ferropolis, the festival is home to the free spirited and techno lovers. The location used to be a former mine, but is now the home of one of Germany’s largest festivals. Surrounded by a stunning lake, known locally as the Gremminer See, the place it’s strength is the mix of nature with the mechanical cranes remained from the Mine glory days.

The music line up goes from techno, indie pop and EDM. With some surprises in between. Some of my personal highlight acts included Kylie Minogue, Cashmere Cat, Kayterenada, Jamie T, Nozinja.

The critics that doubted Miss Minogue’s presence at the festival were presented a unique show from the 47-year-old ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’  pop legend. Of course dressed in high heels and a tight fitting animal print catsuit in red, with matching flower crown.

As she made her long anticipated entrance on to the main stage on Saturday she treated the gathered crowd to her biggest hits and even dared to perform an English version of the German hit ’99 luftballons’ from German Pop legend Nena.

The rapid-fire strain of South African dance music called Shangaan electro is home of Nozinja. This vibrant energetic act was a well welcomed act, getting the crowd dancing on their feet’s, before leaving the stage to Jamie XX.

Also the up and coming Howling gave a performance at MELT!. The music duo consisting of RY X & Frank Wiedemann, prepared an techno festival worthy set for MELT!. The highlight of their show, their closing number and start of the duo’s formation; Howling, which  got the crowd into ecstasy.
