Donald Baechler is an American artist, a real cult figure. Baechler’s haltingly rendered childlike images became a fixture of ’80s postmodernism after the artist signed on with Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York early in the decade. In the 80’s he exhibited with friends and artists such as Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat and is sadly enough the only one left of them. imgl1557-600x400He has shown his art all around the globe, from Latin America, Europe, Scandinavia to Japan to finally stage his first first comprehensive solo exhibition here in Amsterdam .

His paintings are characterized mainly by subjects referring to childhood, think of Disney characters, globes and flowers.

You need to be quick if you want to admire his iconic works ( and some new work) as the exhibit is closing on 15th of November.
